To keep children fresh, place them in a Rubbermaid or Sterilite plastic
container. Do not seal the cover, because much like apples and mushrooms
they need to 'breathe' or they will change color. Will keep up to 5 years.
 

And the plastic container will protect your kitchen if one of them leaks.
